There are days when I wake up with the weight of everything on my chest. Bills unpaid. Deadlines looming. The ache in my body reminding me I’m not 25 anymore. I glance around at a world moving too fast and too loud, and I find myself asking the quiet question:
“Where is my alignment in all this?”
It’s not that I don’t want to be aligned. I long to live from a place of clarity, ease, and meaning. But let’s be honest—it’s hard. Hustle is seductive. It’s rewarded. It pays the bills. It gives you something to do when your soul doesn’t have an answer. And in moments of fear, I’ve chosen hustle over presence more times than I care to admit.
I’ve been broke and brave. Scared and still speaking my truth. I’ve stood in the doorway of hustle while peeking into the warm glow of alignment and wondered if I was worthy enough to walk in.
And yet, I keep showing up. You do too.
What keeps me going isn’t certainty. It’s not having a 10-step plan or a predictable monthly income or perfect health. What keeps me going is faith.
Not in a religious sense, though I honour that too. But in an inner knowing—a whisper that says “Yes, keep going. This is yours to do.” Even when the outer world seems to collapse. Even when the fridge is empty or the email inbox is full of “no’s.” Even when I feel invisible in a world that worships youth and speed.
That inner yes is the thread I follow. Sometimes it’s faint. Sometimes it’s buried under fear. But when I get quiet, when I listen beneath the static of hustle, I can hear it.
Let’s be clear: hustle isn’t inherently wrong. It’s helped many of us survive, feed our families, and launch incredible visions into the world. There is sacred grit in getting things done.
But hustle becomes a problem when it becomes our only gear.
Hustle may build an empire—but only alignment builds a legacy.
This is a dyad I’ve been sitting with lately. You may want to journal on it, or better yet, pair up and speak it aloud with someone you trust.
When I ask myself these questions, I hear this:
I am aligned with truth. With mentoring others into their fullness. With listening deeply. With laughter, even in grief.
And I hustle by over-committing. By saying yes when my body screams no. By grinding to meet expectations I didn’t even choose.
There’s nothing wrong with either answer. The gold comes in seeing them together. In asking: Where am I choosing hustle because I’ve lost sight of my alignment? Or where is hustle serving my alignment, not erasing it?
Especially as we age, alignment becomes non-negotiable. Our time, energy, and attention are precious. We no longer have decades to waste on disconnection.
But here’s the paradox: the very systems we live in often make alignment feel like a luxury. Paying rent, staying healthy, caregiving, earning—these are real. And they demand something of us.
So we hold both. We honour the realness of hustle, while committing to micro-moments of alignment. A breath before you answer that email. A pause before you say yes to one more thing. A moment of gratitude before you get out of bed.
That’s where the shift begins. Not in changing the whole world at once, but in remembering you can live in it differently.
This world has done a great disservice by minimizing the value of elders. But your wisdom, your presence, your scars and laughter lines—they matter deeply. You are the living archive of what it means to keep going with grace.
As a mentor and guide, I’ve had the honour of sitting with so many wise souls who feel cast aside by a culture that no longer recognizes the treasure they carry. To that, I say: Let us change the culture.
Let us build communities that treasure elder wisdom. Let us create spaces where relational wealth is more revered than financial gain. Let us slow down enough to hear one another’s stories.
At Xponential Mentor, our MTP is clear: Crack the CODE to Scarcity and RECODE for Abundance. But that’s not just about money—it’s about mindset. And the shift from hustle to alignment is one of the boldest steps into abundance we can take.
Abundance says, “You’re allowed to rest.” Abundance says, “Your presence matters more than your performance.” Abundance says, “Wealth is in who you love and who loves you.”
So, if you’re feeling weary, If the hustle has hijacked your joy, if your inner alignment feels like a memory instead of a map—
Pause.
Breathe.
Ask yourself: What is one thing I am aligned with? What is one way I can honour that today?
You don’t have to do this alone. We’re walking this path together.
